Air and generators

California Energy Commission adopted Order 23-1108-07 certifying the final environmental impact report, adopting mitigation monitoring and granting a Small Power Plant Exemption for the Bowers backup generating facility. The order describes the exemption and mitigation procedure; it does not establish facility operation, all local permits or present compliance.

Record status: Resolved. California Energy Commission issued the order granting this specific Small Power Plant Exemption. Resolved applies only to that exemption proceeding, not every local approval, present compliance, individual comment outcome or physical facility stage.

Public concern on the record

NE Edge Millstone Nuclear Data Center

Connecticut · Latest recorded activity:

Read record

Noise · Water quality and discharge · Power and electric rates · Land use and zoning · Wildlife, wetlands and stormwater · Health · Other

Residents raised noise, power-allocation, watercourse, wildlife, health and public-information concerns about the NE Edge Millstone proposal in Waterford's October 2, 2023 meeting record and attached letters. Earlier Siting Council correspondence records a hearing request. The town minutes also record public support. These are historical public concerns, not agency findings of harm or proof of a current project or permit outcome.

Record status: Unknown. The later disposition of these historical public concerns, hearing requests and separate boundary procedure is unknown in this bounded review. Acknowledgment, an agenda item or a company update does not establish a granted hearing, current permit, operating impacts or resolution of every concern.

Regulator record

Quantum Frederick

Maryland · Latest recorded activity:

Water quality and discharge · Wildlife, wetlands and stormwater · Traffic and construction · Land use and zoning

Maryland Department of the Environment notified Quantum Maryland that it was referring reported site violations for Attorney General enforcement. An earlier letter withdrew conditional approval of a utility-work environmental plan and cited unapproved work and groundwater discharge. These are historical agency actions, not a verified filed lawsuit, current campus shutdown or measured environmental harm.

Record status: Unknown. The current enforcement disposition and status of the specific historical plan action are unknown in this bounded review. Referral does not establish a filed court case, awarded penalty, current shutdown or final compliance outcome. Later separately listed plan approvals do not by themselves resolve this record.

About this information

What public sources record about data center concerns, with the original attribution, dates and limits.

Counts describe documentation, not harm or severity. Coverage is incomplete. A missing item does not establish that no concern was raised. A resolved procedural petition does not resolve the underlying allegations.

Newest recorded activity first, using the latest known event, disposition, item-source publication or verified company-response publication date. A source-check date never moves an item up the list. Unknown activity dates are excluded when a date range is selected.

How this is tracked.

Each item is individually checked against its public source and an existing Atlas site, campus, project or exact county ID. Event, source publication, disposition and source-check dates stay separate. Unknown dates and outcomes stay unknown. Private residents speaking publicly are labeled Residents; private residents' names are not printed.

Regulator record
An agency-published inspection finding, notice, order or penalty.
Permit and comment
A permit record, public comment period or hearing notice. A notice does not establish approval.
Formal complaint
An agency-published complaint record or count, distinct from a violation finding.
Legal action
A filed action, appeal or notice of intent. Allegations and procedural rulings retain their own scope.
Public concern on the record
Public testimony, a group statement, petition, resolution or recorded letter.
News report
A reported concern attributed to the named outlet, distinct from an agency finding.

The Atlas attributes statements and does not decide who is right. Verified published company responses appear beside the item they address, with their publication basis and relationship to the record. No verified response does not establish refusal. Category counts can overlap and are never a severity ranking.

Open, pending and unknown items require a source recheck within 120 days. The due date does not advance because the website is rebuilt. County-wide items do not create site findings or map pins. The optional neutral Concerns map layer is off by default.

Report a correction. Corrections are reviewed before publication.

Water combines water use and water quality records. Category counts can overlap. The state map counts documented items in this collection, not physical sites or measured effects.
